Nokia Updates Maps 3.0 Beta
Feb 9, 2009, 2:50 PM by Eric M. Zeman
The new beta version of Nokia maps will support devices running S60 Feature Pack 1, including handsets such as the N95 and E71. Maps 3.0 beta brings support for map rotation; a number of additional shortcut keys; better 2D/3D support with terrain and satellite integration; and the My Places has a option "Point me to" for any saved places/landmarks, and will point you the direction to that place on the map. The start-up sequence takes you to your current position as soon as your position is found. If it can't locate you within a few seconds, it will take you to your last known position. The beta software is a free download via the Nokia Maps Updater, which requires the use of a PC.
