Feb 16, 2009, 3:15 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Texas Instruments announced that two new Samsung handsets will have embedded DLP projectors. The two phones, headed to Korea (W7900) and Europe (I7410) are capable of projecting Powerpoint slides, viewing email attachments, viewing pictures, and watching videos in sizes larger than 50 inches. The phones will be able to use the projector as a flashlight, as well. They have 5 megapixel cameras, OLED touch screens, a finger-friendly navigation feature for interacting with slideshows and built-in speakers. Texas Instruments also announced a new DLP projector chip specifically for mobile phones, called the DLP Pico. It will let phones project images or video at WVGA (854x480) resolution with a contrast ratio of 1000 to 1.
