Verizon Wireless Offers the Visually Impaired Speech Tool
Mar 12, 2009, 9:48 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Today Verizon Wireless announced a new service for the blind and visually impaired called Talks. Talks converts on-screen text into speech so the visually impaired will know what is on the screen. This means it can be used to search through contacts, compose SMS/MMS/email messages, interact with Mobile Office and mobile Internet Explorer. Users of Talks will also be able to control the volume and rate of speech playback. Talks will initially be available on the Motorola Q9c, which runs Windows Mobile. The Q9c with Talks will be available starting March 15 for $250 after rebates with new agreement.
