Verizon Wireless Launches Mobile Web Games and Apps Store
Apr 2, 2009, 9:29 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Today Verizon Wireless announced a new way for its subscribers to reach content from their handsets. The Mobile Web Games and Apps Store lets customers preview, sample and order games and applications directly from their phone's browser. The new apps store is available to Get It Now-capable phones with either WAP browsers or full HTML browsers. It also has a search function that allows users to seek out applications and games directly, rather than navigating through the store's menus. The Mobile Web Games and Apps Store is free to use as long as customers are already subscribed to a data plan. Applications and games are priced individually.

App stores are typically run by the manufacturer...not the carrier (atleast on smartphones).
