EU Could Compel Carriers to Support VoIP

The European Union is considering legislature that would force wireless network operators to support VoIP on their networks. Currently, individual countries oversee such legislature, but if it is enacted by the EU, then all operators hosting wireless services in EU member states would be forced to comply. VoIP allows end users to make calls through the Internet that can be less expensive than via cellular networks.

The US House of Representatives has passed a bill that would force Chinese company ByteDance to sell TikTok within six months or face a complete ban on the app in the US. It would also grant the President the power to include other foreign-owned apps in the future.

So stupid. Stay out of private business, let them run it how they please. If the consumer doesn't like it they will figure out another option or look for another carrier that may decide to offer voip. Let the market evolve, do not interfere!
