Acer announced a swath of Windows Mobile-based smartphones earlier this year and had initially indicated that they'd be available before the end of 2009. It appears as though Acer's plans to enter the U.S. smartphone market have cooled off a bit. Acer said it has run into snags with U.S. network operators, and they will result in a delayed launch. The best Acer would commit to saying is that its smartphones could be available in the U.S. at the end of the fourth quarter.
