May 27, 2009, 7:27 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Samsung has renewed its licensing agreement with SanDisk for NAND flash memory chip technology. As part of the agreement, Samsung will guarantee SanDisk a certain portion of its chip production in return for a royalty rate that is about half of what Samsung was previously paying to SanDisk. Samsung uses SanDisk's memory chip technology in a wide range of products. The new agreement goes into effect on August 14, when the existing agreement expires, and will be in effect until 2016.
