At the Google I/O Conference, several features of the next generation of Android software were shown off before attendees. One such feature is a universal search function that will simultaneously the web and the host device (contacts, calendar, etc.) at the same time. It also includes a new text-to-speech API, which will allow developers to tap into Google Voice for additional features. This is an early version of Android 2.0, and it is subject to change as development continues. Google did not say when or if this version of Android would be available to end users.
