Virgin Debuts Broadband for Laptops

Virgin Mobile USA today announced Broadband2Go data service for laptops. The pay-as-you-go service requires no contract, no monthly subscription, and no activation fee. Prepaid options start at $10 for 100 MB over 10 days. 30-day options clock in at $20, $40, or $60, for 250 MB, 600 MB, or 1 GB, respectively. Service requires the new Novatel MC760 for USB ports, the world's smallest CDMA EVDO Rev. A modem, which will sell for $149.99. The MC760 and service will be available exclusively through Best Buy Mobile in late June.

According to their FAQ, the software needed to check your usage is Win only. Hopefully it'll crossover to the other operating systems soon.
I'd Use This If...
The modem were a little cheaper.
I don't normally need a wireless modem, as I find WiFi sufficient. However, there are times when I'm on vacation, renting a house or condo, where there's no broadband available.
I'd use this at those times and just purchase data when I need them.

If you are a heavy data user and Cricket is in your area, they may be a better option. You can get their modem for much less, and their "unlimited" cap is 5gb (if I recall correctly). I believe they cost $40/month, with no contract.
