Google Voice Goes Mobile for Android and BlackBerry

Google has created a mobile version of its Google Voice service, and is offering dedicated applications for the Android and BlackBerry platforms. Google Voice lets users set up telephony services and make phone calls via the Internet. It was formerly known as Grand Central. The Google Voice mobile application will allow users of Android and BlackBerry handsets to make and receive calls from their Google Voice number, as well as send and receive text messages, check voicemail, see message transcriptions, and even have messages read aloud. It functions similar to Skype, in that it will use the phone's data capabilities to complete the phone calls and send messages. Google and Apple are working on a Google Voice application for the iPhone. The application is free, but some calling services can cost money.
