Sony Ericsson to See Change in Leadership

Today Sony Ericsson announced that CEO Dick Komiyama will vacate his post on October 15 and he will be replaced by Bert Nordberg. Nordberg currently heads LM Ericsson's broadband and IP division in Silicon Valley. He will join Komiyama starting September 1 and the two men will work together as co-CEOs until October 15. Komiyama will stay with Sony Ericsson as an advisor until the end of 2009 before fully retiring. At the same time, Sony CEO Howard Stringer will step in as the chairman of Sony Ericsson's board on October 15. He replaces Ericsson CEO Carl-Henric Svanberg, who is leaving the company. Sony Ericsson is in the middle of a restructuring program that is aimed at renewing sales of its handsets.
