Today Samsung announced that it will open its version of a mobile application store in Europe on September 14. The store will launch first in the United Kingdom, France and Italy, with 30 additional countries following later in the year. The store will have about 300 applications at launch, and Samsung expects that number to grow to more than 2000 applications by the end of 2009. Samsung specifically said that the store will support smartphones, which will include Windows Mobile and Symbian-based devices. Samsung has yet to announce any plans to bring an apps store to the U.S. market.
