T-Mobile Offering Fuel Cell from Its Accessories Site
Oct 21, 2009, 10:33 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Today T-Mobile made a fuel cell charging product available via its accessories web site. The 24/7 Xtreme Portable Power Solution, made by Medis, delivers instant emergency power to portable devices without batteries or pre-charging. Similar to a chemical ice pack, users squeeze the Xtreme and shake it. The Xtreme then uses electrochemical processes to create electricity and recharge electronics. It provides 20 watt-hours of electricity, which is enough to charge a smartphone several times over. It comes with a set of tips and connectors that are compatible with standard USB, miniUSB, microUSB, Palm Treo, and Nokia ports. According to Medis, its fuel cell products are not hazardous and give off no emissions or measurable heat. The Xtreme is small, portable, and allowed on airplanes. Pricing wasn't immediately made available.
