Today Verizon Wireless said that it has begun sending the over-the-air update to a small set of Motorola Droids. The update is being rolled out in phases, and more will begin to receive the update link in the next week. The update is identified as ESD56, and it provides systemwide changes from Google, Motorola and Verizon Wireless. Some of the changes are improved battery life, improved camera focus, and a more stable OS. An update to the Droid Eris is planned but a date has not yet been confirmed.
