Comverse Intros Location-Aware Messaging
Feb 15, 2010, 3:23 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Today Comverse announced a new mobile messaging service that is location aware. More than just geo-locating photos, the new Comverse platform supports location-aware text messaging (SMS), multimedia messaging (MMS) and visual voicemail. The platform will allow mobile users to receive a map of the real-time location of the person sending them a voice, text or multimedia message, and vice versa when they make calls or send messages. Comverse is using Navteq's mapping data in addition to its own message delivery systems to enable the geo-tagging. The service will be up to network operators to integrate and deploy to their users.
