Sagem Wireless Cosyphone Uses NFC for Shortcuts

Sagem Wireless today introduced the Cosyphone. As its name implies, the Cosyphone is meant to be a simpler, more comfortable device aimed at the over 50's market. Besides the ergonomically designed keyboard and the simpler user interface, Sagem Wireless is also using NFC technology for a unique shortcut system. Users can create and assign customized shortcut cards, or "tags." When a users wants to activate the shortcut, he waves the phone near the card and the NFC system activates the command. Users can create cards that will call or text message a contact, or cards that can open a bookmark in the phone's browser. So, a weather forecast card could direct the phone to a local weather site on the Web. The Cosyphone will also come with a charging cradle. The Sagem Wireless Cosyphone will be sold through mobile network operators. U.S. availability has not been specifically announced.
