Opera Spreads the Widget Love Around
Mar 22, 2010, 7:44 AM by Philip Berne
Opera today announced a rebuild of its Opera Widgets technology, based on the Opera Mini platform. Opera Mini uses a server to render Web content before it is delivered to the ultra-mobile browser, making for faster transfer times and a less intense load on the device's internals. The new Opera Widgets, which uses Opera's new cross-platform UI framework, will work similarly, and Opera hopes this will bring Opera Widgets to a wide variety of mobile phone types. The new Opera Mini-based Widget platform is available to carriers and developers today.
