Today Research In Motion released a number of updated tools that developers can use to write applications for the BlackBerry's Java-based platform. The new tools include the BlackBerry Java Plug-In for Eclipse v1.1; the BlackBerry Web Plug-in v2.0; the BlackBerry Widget SDK (Software Development Kit) v1.0; and the BlackBerry Java SDK v5.0. These four updated tools provide developers expanded capabilities, including access to BlackBerry hardware and BlackBerry software such as the inbox, calendar, and address book.
