Today Apple said that iPhone OS 4.0 will support navigation apps and turn-by-turn directions even when the app is sent to the background. All applications that use GPS or aGPS will be able to take advantage of the new navigation tools. The apps will be able to track users in real-time. Apple is also boosting the location privacy features of the iPhone. It will allow users to fine-tune which apps have access to their location and which don't through new settings tools in the iPhone's menus. It will also alert users when applications want to access their location information.
