NASDAQ OMX Begins Tracking the Smartphone Sector

NASDAQ OMX today announced a new tracking index focused on wireless, mobile devices and advanced communications companies. The NASDAQ OMX CEA Smartphone Index is a market-cap index tracking such companies as Apple, Google and RIM. The new Smartphone Index tracks 84 companies in all, and it commenced calculation today with a value of 250.00.

This shoule be good for

people who own technological stock. Such as apple and RIM and etc.

Now it can be all in one place and you can compare the advancements of one company versus the other and study the relationship of one another.
This was a great idea. I'm somewhat surprised the NASDAQ didn't do this a long time ago. It'll be fun to watch it rise and fall as new devices are announced and new law suits are filed.
