FCC Greenlights ATN Buy of Former Alltel Assets

The Federal Communications Commission has given Atlantic-Tele Network's permission to purchase former Alltel assets from Verizon Wireless. ATN is paying $200 million for wireless spectrum licenses, network assets and more than 800,000 subscribers in Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, N. Carolina, Ohio and S. Carolina. The justice department has already approved the acquisition.
