Verizon Picks LG Android Phone As its Latest Ally

Verizon Wireless today officially announced the LG Ally, the first Android handset in the U.S. from LG. The Ally is a sideways slider that strongly resembles the enV Touch at first glance. It has a 3.2-inch hardened glass capacitive display with 800 x 480 pixels; a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, autofocus, and video capture; Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Wi-Fi and GPS; and supports spoken turn-by-turn directions. The Ally runs Android 2.1, and has five customizable home screens. It supports microSD cards up to 16GB. Verizon Wireless said the Ally will be available for pre-order starting May 13, and will arrive in Verizon retail stores on May 20. It will cost $100 after mail-in rebate with new agreement.

Sucks that the Ally has 5 homescreens and the Droid only has 3

What is the deal with the Droid only having 3 home screens and the Ally having 5!!! This isn't fair!!! 😡

Jay, if more homescreens is what you need, get Helixlauncher. I don't know why they limited the number on the droid, but with helixlauncher, you can get up to 7

ok here's the thing...

i will admit i dislike verizon from experience. however, i feel big red needs to dump LG because all their phones are junk. Had a quite a few models and they all failed over and over. Brand new LG phones from corporate vzw stores. They should focus more on motorola and htc and other major players. IMHO LG just doesn't cut it for a carrier that is supposed to be #1
