Sharp Develops 3D Camera for Cell Phones
May 12, 2010, 7:36 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Sharp today announced that it has created a new camera module that would allow mobile phones to capture 3D images and video. Similar to the way human sight works, the module has two separate lenses that will capture individual images for the left and right eyes. The images are then merged to create a 3D picture or video. The module can also capture 3D video in 720p high definition. Sharp said that the module will be sampling by July, and should be available for mass production before the end of the year.
