Verizon Wireless Offers Barcode Scanner App to Customers
May 12, 2010, 8:12 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Verizon Wireless today announced that it has made a free barcode scanner application available to over 30 of its handsets. ScanLife for Verizon phones performs similar to other barcode apps in that it allows users to take a picture of a 1D or 2D barcode on a product, which is then processed by the software to deliver information about that product. According to Verizon, ScanLife lets users look up info about the product; request coupon offers; launch audio tours; and connect business cards to contact information or social networking profiles. The software itself is a free download, though data charges may apply depending on each users' account.
