On the Google Mobile blog, Google has launched a new API for Google Lattude, its location tracking service. In a post by Ana Ulin, a Software Engineer on the Google Mobile team, the company details possible uses for Google Latitude on mobile devices, including home automation and credit card security possibilities that tie into location information. Google makes clear that a deep measure of control will be offered to users allowing access to location data for third party apps and developers, so users will be able to see and control who can see their current location and location history.
