Verizon, Nextel Spar Over Push-To-Talk

Verizon Wireless and Nextel appear set to lock horns over legal issues surrounding Push-To-Talk (PTT) - the "walkie-talkie" feature that Nextel is famous for. Verizon is preparing to launch a competing service, possibly as soon as this week. Nextel ignited the battle by claiming trademark ownership for the term "push-to-talk", attempting to pre-empt Verizon from using the term. Verizon last week countered with a lawsuit, alleging that Nextel improperly obtained prototypes of Verizon PTT handsets.
