Google Lets Devs Tickle Android With Cloud to Device Messaging

Google today gave Android developers access to a previously proprietary feature, cloud to device messaging (C2DM). The service is similar to push delivery, except that Google suggests devs send a simpler notification to their apps, more of a "tickle" than a complete content package, as Google puts it on the Android developer blog. Developers will be able to send notificatiosn even if the application is not running, or if the device is in airplane mode. Developers will be able to send notifications to any device that is logged into a Google account, though the device must also be running android 2.2.

This isn't useless.

This is a tie in with their Chrome addon.

Basically, if you are viewing a page on your computer and have to leave, you press a button and it pushes the website to your phone and pops up your browser.
