AT&T and T-Mobile Hit with Voicemail Patent Suit
Jun 2, 2010, 1:01 PM by Eric M. Zeman
A Swiss company called Starhome has filed a lawsuit against AT&T and T-Mobile, claiming that the companies are violating its voicemail patents. One of the patents in question allows AT&T and T-Mobile customers to access their voicemail when abroad using short codes rather than long international numbers. The other patent relates to toll-free calling offered to AT&T and T-Mobile companies by car rental companies in European countries. Starhome is seeking to block AT&T and T-Mobile from offering these services to traveling customers. The lawsuit was filed in Delaware, and also included a San Jose, Calif.-based company called Roamware. Neither AT&T nor T-Mobile commented on the lawsuit.
