Within days of each other, Apple and Google have both announced new diagnostic software that allow users to troubleshoot common issues with their own iPhones or Pixel phones. The new Apple Diagnostics for Self Service Repair tool starts with a web site where users enter their device's serial number.

HMD's newest phone — the HMD Fusion — has a special six-pin connector the enables new kinds cases that add to the phone's functionality. HMD calls these enhanced cases "Smart Outfits".

Google is rolling out changes to its Play app store that will make it easier for users to find apps that include home-screen widgets. Users will now be able filter searches specifically for apps with widgets, and apps with widgets will get a special badge on their detail pages.
