Samsung Announces Speedy Mobile Chip

Samsung Electronics today announced the world’s fastest mobile CPU, with a core speed of up to 533MHz. The S3C2440 is designed to be a main application processor for mobile handheld devices such as PDAs and smartphones. The new CPU features an ARM920T core, and supports major operating systems including Microsoft Windows CE, Palm OS, Symbian and Linux. The S3C2440 is sampling now, and will be in mass production from Q4 2003.
