New Processor Interface Group Formed

Texas Instruments (TI), STMicroelectronics, and Nokia today announced the formation of the Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) Alliance, a new industry initiative to define and promote open standards for processor chips for mobile devices. The MIPI Alliance is an evolution of the OMAPI initiative. 10 working groups will be established to develop specifications in specific key areas. The alliance expects to announce additional members in the third quarter of 2003.
