U.S. Government Launches App Site, Mostly for iPhones
Jul 6, 2010, 11:43 AM by Philip Berne
The Federal Government has launched a new site with links to all of its collected apps. The site, apps.usa.gov, provides iTunes links to 18 government apps, including a TSA app to check local airport conditions, a NASA app for mission schedules and images, and "My Food-a-Pedia," to count calories and compare foods. For emergencies, there's a FEMA app, a Find Your Embassy app and an air quality app from the EPA. Most apps are either Web-based apps for all mobile browsers or iOS apps for the iPhone, but there are a few Android apps available and even a BlackBerry app, for the EPA's UV Index.
