Today Skype updated its calling application for devices running iOS4. The biggest new feature allows Skype to run in the background while users open and interact with other applications during a call. The application can also be left open with users signed into their account. This lets users receive Skype calls and IM messages when the phone is being used for other apps or is locked. Skype also confirmed that it has dropped plans to charge users for VoIP calls over 3G. The software is a free download from the iPhone App Store.
