In-depth review of the razor-thin Samsung T809 slider for T-Mobile.
The Samsung t809 is T-Mobile's gorgeous new fashion phone, and it certainly is the light around which people will crowd. The t809's display is hands-down one of the best we've seen, and particularly in such a svelte phone. If you find yourself texting occasionally, sharing photos and video, or just using your phone as a flashlight, the t809 will surpass your expectations. However if you plan on using the t809 as heavy texting tool or a camera replacement, it won't stand up to the job.

Great comments on the 809's build quality. This is an issue that has prevented me from purchasing any type of slider format handset. Not only to I find them cumbersome, but they're just itching to be broken. Having not seen your name before in these pages...welcome!

My A800 has lasted for a year and weared fine. I have dropped it many times and it is scratched extensively, but it still works with nice action.

zero worry whatsoever about the physical quality of my T809. solid and good. anyway, a slider is less worrisome than a clamshell with regards to "itching to be broken!" ... you want a candy bar phone if that's your worry
Nice, but Disapointing for the money

After less than a week of use, I had to return the phone. I loved it, but couldn't live with it's shortcomings. A phone in this class without voice dialing is DISAPOINTING. The cumbersome interaction between phone functions of answering/placing a call when using a bluetooth headset is also disapointing.

I love it
I've been using the phone for a little over a month now. I love samsungs. I was using the E 715 for a long time. When the Razr was launched in the states I grabbed that. The razr is a good phone dont get me wrong, but i don't think it can hold a candle to the 809. In the main review of this phone its mentioned that the Razr is a better built phone, and that the 809 doesn't age well. This I cannot dis-agree with. Although i have had no real issues with its physical design, the sliding mechanism is seeming to wear out rather quickly. Again something about the main review. I researched this phone throroughly and then bought it. My 1st thoughts were that it felt like a POS in my hands. build quality is horrible. feels like a kid's toy. I have owned a se 700i for the past year, so nost comparisons are made from it, but I have also tested other phones.
I would disagree mostly on the speakerphone/mp3 quality. It is definitely the worst ive had. I transferred ther same mp3 from my old phone so I was truly comparing apples to apples. 1st, there is no range(highs or lows) plus the volume was low.
I thought the user interface was quite poor. I especially had trouble with the clear ("c") button b/c it was positioned too close to the directional pad.

The mp3 player
The review said that the mp3 player was limited to mp3's only, but I use .m4a files on mine and they work just as well as mp3's do.
Yes, most Samsung phones (ableit Verizon) will play MP3/AAC/AAC+ files. It should have also been mentioned that you can sync music onto the phone over Bluetooth.
