Nokia yesterday announced a new version of its recently-announced 3100 entry-level model. The new version is designed specifically for the Americas, with GSM 850/1800/1900 bands and new opaque faceplates. The new 3100 is otherwise identical to the European version, bringing the high-end features of Nokia's Series 40 platform to the affordable 3000 series. Key features include a color display, Series 40 interface, Java 2.0, optional light-up faceplates, and polyphonic ringtones.
