U.S. Cellular is now offering the BlackBerry Bold 9650. The new phone ships on August 18 running BlackBerry 5 OS, but U.S. Cellular says the phone will be upgraded to BlackBerry 6 in the coming months. The phone will cost $230 with a contract agreement, and U.S. Cellular is offering a $70 mail-in rebate. The dual-mode smartphone works on homegrown EV-DO rev. A networks as well as UMTS/HSPA networks in the 2100 radio band for 3G access abroad. The phone also supports quad-band GSM/EDGE. The phone is identical to the version being sold on Verizon Wireless and Sprint, with a 2.4-inch HVGA display and a 3.2 megapixel camera. The phone gets U.S. Cellular exclusive software, including Your Navigator Deluxe.
