Verizon Wireless today formally announced the ZTE Salute, its first handset from Chinese manufacturer ZTE. Stand-out features include a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, VZ Navigator and Verizon's Social Beat social networking application. The Salute is a vertical slider with standard numerical keypad. It is available online and at Verizon Wireless retail stores for $20 after mail-in rebate with a new contract. The ZTE was outed by online retailer WireFly earlier this week.
