Possible Nokia Smartphone With RFID Hits FCC

FCC documents have revealed testing on a new Nokia smartphone that includes RFID support, which could point to a device with mobile payment options. The unnamed device also supports WCDMA on radio bands used by AT&T and T-Mobile for their 3G networks. The inclusion of Wi-Fi 802.11n, along with an FM transmitter, means this could be a new smartphone device. Nokia has produced phones that use RFID for near-field communication (NFC) in the past, but not for the American market. NFC is the preferred technology for tap and go mobile payment systems.
