Google Maps Now Offers Walking Navigation

Google today announced an update to its Google Maps 4.5 for Android handsets. The new version of Google Maps for Android for the first time offers voice-guided navigation for those walking between points A and B. Walking Navigation, which is in beta, lets users tap into the Street View tools — by dragging the Pegman — within Google Maps to get a grounds-eye view of their path as they walk, and will speak directions, as well as offer non-intrusive alerts, such as vibrations, when it is time to make a turn. Google Maps 4.5 for Android will also rotate with the user as he/she makes turns along the route. The latest version of Maps is a free download from the Android Market.
