Nokia today bet large on Symbian^3 with the release of 3 news phones across a range of phone families. Nokia revived its communicator legacy with the Nokia E7 business phone, and also added two touchscreen phones that are more consumer-friendly in the Nokia C7 and C6-01. All three offer quad-band GSM/EDGE and penta-band 850/900/1700/1900/2100MHz WCDMA radio profiles (with AWS support), in addition to 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0. They all also share 8 megapixel cameras with auto-focus, LED flash, and 720p HD video capture. All of the new phones will be available before the end of the year:
- E7: The Nokia E7 is a touchscreen slider, but it is a clear break from the design of the Nokia N97. The phone has an aluminum unibody construction and a 4-inch screen, looking almost identical to the Nokia N8, except for the slide-out QWERTY. The phone uses Nokia's new ClearBlack display technology, which uses a polarizer positioned to reduce glare for deeper blacks and fewer reflections. The ClearBlack display is an enhanced AMOLED screen with a 640 x 360 pixel resolution. Business users will find enhanced support for Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint slide editing capabilities, as well as a host of other business technologies to work with Cisco and Juniper VPN systems, OMA DM support and F-Secure anti-theft protection to remotely lock, wipe and locate the device. Like the Nokia N8, the E7 has a non-user removable battery, so users will have to have the phone serviced if the battery needs to be replaced.
- C7: The Nokia C7 is a slim touchscreen phone with an AMOLED display and a stainless steel shell. The phone features a 3.5-inch screen also running 640 x 360 pixels. It's 10.5mm thick, but uses a removable battery. The C7 will come with 8GB of storage. It also has an FM radio and FM transmitter.
- C6: The Nokia C6 is the baby brother to the larger Nokia C7. It uses a smaller 3.2-inch AMOLED display, also with Nokia's ClearBlack display technology, still driving 640 x 360 pixels. It has a second, user-facing camera for video chatting and an FM radio. The C6-01 is shorter and less wide than the C7, but it is also thicker.
