Amazon to Launch Android App Store
Oct 7, 2010, 2:59 PM by Eric M. Zeman
According to the Wall Street Journal, Amazon is ready to unveil its own storefront for Android applications. The Journal says Amazon's store will offer the same 70/30 revenue split with developers offered by Google, and that the apps can't be priced lower through other app outlets. Apps will need to appear within the Amazon app outlet within two weeks of an app's debut in other app outlets. Developers who've spoken to Amazon said they haven't been told what the application storefront will be called, nor when it will launch. Such a storefront would compete directly against Google's Android Market.
