Verizon Wireless Launches 1xEV-DO

Verizon Wireless today launched 1xEV-DO networks in Washington, D.C. and San Diego. The service, first announced in March, will be branded as BroadbandAccess. The service has typical speeds of 300-500 kilobits per second (kbps), with bursts up to 2.0 Megabits per second (Mbps), making it the fastest commercially available wide area wireless data technology available today. BroadbandAccess service will available starting Wednesday for a flat rate of $79.99 per month. The initial hardware offering is the PC 5220 card from Sierra Wireless, which is $149.99 after $100 rebate. Verizon Wireless also plans to offer "a wide range of the latest handheld mobile devices" for the new service in the future.

Motorola has announced the 2024 editions of the moto g 5G and moto g power 5G, priced at $200 and $300, respectively (MSRP, unlocked).
