Facebook and Loopt today announced a new version of the Loopt application for the iOS platform that integrates Facebook's Places feature within Loopt. Loopt users will now be able to see all their Loopt and Facebook Places friends on one map. Users can also check into both Loopt and Places at the same time and comments made on either social networking service will cross-pollinate to the other. Users can also see both their Facebook and Loopt friends' check-in histories from the Loopt app. Other new features include more granular control over alerts and privacy features, as well as easier sign-up and registration. The new version of Loopt is a free download from the iTunes App Store.
