Clear Fires Up WiMAX In NYC and Other Metros Today
Nov 1, 2010, 12:28 AM by Philip Berne
Right on schedule, Clearwire today announced that its 4G WiMAX service is now available in New York City. The new network, which is also used by Sprint for its 4G service, is available in Hartford and New Haven, Connecticut, as well as Trenton and Tampa Bay. Clear says it is still on track to roll out WiMAX to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami and a few other cities by the end of this year.

Clear but spotty
On my way to work this morning, I saw 4G signal for several miles on CT-15 (Wilbur Cross Parkway) and there appears to be signal at my home (although I have not seen it there yet).
The problem is that there are significant holes in the coverage (even along the highways), and there is no 4G signal in either of the places I would use it the most (at work or the theater).
Hopefully Clear/Sprint will provide more coverage in the near future.

Great News....
I have had WiMAX since June in my area and love it. It was spotty at first, but they have done a good job filling in areas of weakness. The compliment of network to device has been a good experience.
If you have an Evo and have been waiting, you will love the speed that is clearly seen with WiMAX.
Good luck to these cities.
Enjoy!
