Sierra Wireless Announces Smartphone

Sierra Wireless, long-time maker of wireless data cards and modules, today jumped into the handset market with the introduction of the Voq, a Smartphone using Microsoft's Windows Mobile platform. The initial Voq model is a tri-band GSM phone planned for commercial availability in the first half of 2004. The device features a unique flip-open QWERTY thumbpad. The Voq is powered by 200 MHz Intel® PXA262 processor, complemented by 80MB total built-in memory.
