Motorola Targeting January for Split

Motorola co-CEO Greg Brown has said that the company is aiming to complete its long-planned break up by January 2011. The company as it stands today will divide into two separate entities: Motorola Mobility (in charge of handsets and set-top boxes) and Motorola Solutions (in charge of wireless networking for businesses and governments). Once the split is complete, Brown will lead the Solutions group, while co-CEO Sanjay Jha will run the Mobility group. The company had previously only committed to splitting during the first half of 2011.
