AT&T's First MiFi Device Boasts Apps and MicroSD Support

AT&T today announced the addition of Novatel's MiFi mobile hotspot device to its lineup of mobile broadband products. AT&T says the its variant of the Novatel MiFi 2372 mobile hotspot is the first to include an operating system that supports widgets and applications. It provides Wi-Fi access for up to five other properly equipped devices using its HSPA network at 7.2Mbps. The MiFi 2372 also accepts microSD cards up to 32GB, and has on-board GPS and support for location-based services. AT&T says the 2372's on-board OS will provide users with access to browser-based widgets such as data usage and SMS, as well as GeoSearch and GeoWeather. It will be available from AT&T stores for $50 after rebate with new agreement. AT&T says the device is comptabiel with its DataConnect plans, offering 200MB for $35 or 5GB for $60 per month.
