TerreStar has debuted a consumer version of its Genus smartphone, which can access both satellite and terrestrial cellular networks. The Genus is a rugged Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard. It can access AT&T's network when in AT&T coverage region, and TerreStar's satellite services when in areas not served by AT&T. The handset can be ordered directly from TerreStar, but requires a new AT&T contract. The Genus was made available to business customers back in September.
