Nov 30, 2010, 10:19 AM by Eric M. Zeman
LG Display and QD Vision today announced a new partnership whereby the two companies will work together on active matrix, quantum-dot LEDs (QLEDs). According to LG and QD, QLEDs offer a number of benefits, including brighter colors, reduced manufacturing costs while still allowing for extremely thin displays. QD explains in a press release, "Quantum dots provide the stability and reliability of inorganic semiconductor materials, and can be processed in solution." The companies didn't say when QLEDs might become available in consumer electronics devices, nor exactly what form factors can take advantage of QLEDs.
