Smith Micro today announced that it has added a voicemail-to-text feature to its existing visual voicemail product. Smith Micro provides wireless network operators with visual voicemail. Those carriers will now be able to offer their own customers voicemail-to-text transcription services. The service will transcribe voicemails into text and then send them along with the audio file to the user's handset, where they can be listened to or read. Smith Micro's product also allows visual voicemail customers to record responses and send them without actually making a phone call. Sprint already offers SmithMicro's visual voicemail product, and will also offer the voicemail-to-text feature, both for $1.99 per month, on all 8 Android devices available on its network.
